It’s extremely nauseating and appalling that Kogi State, my dearest state, has remained this pitiably developed, consequent upon the bad leadership it has had all the while since its creation.

It has being from one form of misrule to another, with leadership that prided itself and revelled in selfish interest rather than the interest of the populace.

It is not that the state is not blessed with every form of abundant resources that should be available for any state to develop. Human and material resources abound for the state, within and outside to move it forward. But the leaders that had all along found themselves at the helm of its affairs had chosen to fend for themselves rather than ensuring a developed state. All the leaders that emanated therein had foisted underdevelopment upon the state using the traditional divisive factor of ethnicity to achieve their clandestine aim and objective. Their egocentric agenda has been raping the state wholesale.

The avouchment of Gov. Bello’s mandate by the apex court, should not be wasted only on celebration alone, it should also be use to search for productive policies and concept for the sole aim of developing Kogi state. We may have a cause to celebrate, because it’s not easy to where he is, but in terms of how the state should have been, we are not there yet. The stage we are presently as a state is not the stage we should be by now.

The “Bellovolence” Supreme Court victory over litigants, should be use to decide among his cabinet members what legacy there would like to bequeath to the generation coming after us. While the past generations may not have bothered what legacy they sought to leave behind, we that are alive now, especially the New Direction government must think of how it wants to be remembered, and that is for the better. Gov Bello’s government must not toe the same path of the infamous and ravenous past leaders of the state, whose pastime were looting and ravaging its resources. The New Direction government must seek to enshrine its name in the indelible memory of the people as a government that came to right the wrong of the past governments. It must, a matter of “Divine enthronement”, ensure that the state comes out better by the time its time is done. In its commitment at improving the lot of the state and its people, this government must turn deaf ear to the rantings of the wailers and wolves who have been displaced from their “loot and shared syndrome”, and think of initiating policies and programs that will drive Kogi state towards sustainable development for our born and yet unborn children. Let her quest for a developed Kogi State be its driving force, and not be unperturbed by the cries of those who had taken aback the state to her present state of crucification.

Our children should henceforth see a developed Kogi State of their dreams, not the dream of those that had run the state aground.

Lastly, accountability, probity and transparency are hallmark of good governance and institutional stability. If any system, institution and government want to be trusted or moreover succeed, then it must be ready to imbibe these three attributes , which are accountability, probity and transparency.

Thanks!

This is message to His excellency,  Yahaya Adoza Bello and his team of young productive expertise over the Supreme Court divine victory. God bless my beloved Kogi State.
