The federal government in its quest to create jobs for unemployed graduates and diversify the nation’s economic mainstay from oil, yesterday launched the Graduate Agricultural Scheme in Ejiba, Yagba West local government area of Kogi State.
Minister of Water Resources, Engr. Suleiman Adamu who launched the scheme at Ejiba, noted that the Programme was initiated by the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to ensure food security and self-sustenance in the country through agriculture.

He said similar scheme would be launched across all the River Basins in the country subsequently, adding that a total of 50 graduates would engage in each of the batch.
“One of the major drivers of this new push of Buhari’s administration is to support agriculture to diversify our economy from total dependence on oil through the various River Basin Authorities that we have, which among them are quite a number of large dams that support irrigation and even small hydro schemes that have been underutilised for many years,” he said
Responding, Kogi state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello commended the efforts of the federal government.
