Lokoja LG Sets Up Committee to Investigate Killing of Herdsman

Lokoja Local Government Council has constituted a six-man committee to find ways of averting the breakdown of law and order following the gruesome murder of a Fulani herdsman, Mallam Yusuf at Banda in Oworo District of the local government area.

Mallam Yusuf was alleged to have been murdered in a camp at Oworo while sleeping by unknown person(s).

According to a press statement which was signed by the Information Officer of the local government area, Salisu Datti and made available to The Graphic, the Director of the Local Government, (DLG) Mr. Andrew Maha constituted the committee to ensure that the perpetrators of the dastardly act are identified and brought to book.

The committee according to the statement is headed by the representative of the Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Bala Sarkin Zango, while the Security Officer of the council area, Alhaji Gambo Umar is to serve as secretary.

Other members of the committee are the Divisional Police Officer, B’ Division, the representative of the Director, State Security Services, Council of Ulama and the National Council of Women Society.

According to the statement, the chairman of the committee has assured that no stone would be left unturned in the effort to identify the perpetrators of the heinous act.

He added that the committee has visited the father of the deceased and presented some food items and financial assistance to him on behalf of the local government.

The chairman of the committee prayed to God to grant the deceased eternal repose and the parents the fortitude to bear the loss.
