Efforts toward the re-election of Kogi State governor, Capt. Idris Wada recently received a major boost, with stakeholders from Omala Local Government Area of the state endorsing him for second term in office.
Speaking at an expanded meeting with the governor in Lugard House, the stakeholders led by the Deputy Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Aliyu Akuh said their decision to support and work for Governor Wada’s re-election was informed by his administration’s impressive performance.
According to Hon Akuh, the state particularly, the people of Omala Local Government Area will work tirelessly to make sure Capt Wada is being reelected.
“Omala people are solidly behind you. Our prayers are with you and by the grace of the Almighty we shall be victorious in the forthcoming election”, Akuh said.
In his remark, the former Head of Service to Kogi State Government, Chief Y.B Agbenyo said Omala is the stronghold of PDP. He drew from the political antecedents of the area, saying, “We have done it before and will do it again. We will vote massively for you. After your victory, I am optimistic that Omala will be provided with more basic infrastructures.”
The state commissioner of Budget and Planning, Hon. Chief Ali Ajuh, in his speech pointed out that several development projects ranging from educational institutions, roads, health and other critical public infrastructure have been completed in all the nooks and crannies of the state.
Ajuh, who assured the governor of the people’s determination to work for him, expressed optimism that Omala will experience more government presence during the governor’s second term.
“It is on record that since 1999 Omala has always delivered PDP. Be rest assured of victory as we have resolved to vote massively for you come November 21st”, Ajuh noted.
In his remarks, Governor Wada who described Omala as a foundational stronghold of the PDP expressed gratitude to the people of Omala for their steadfast support for the party, since inception in 1999.
Acknowledging their doggedness and forthrightness in politics, the governor said he has no iota of doubt that the people would still vote for the PDP, as the only party that protects the interest of the people in the forthcoming governorship election.
The governor assured that work on the ongoing Abejukolo Township road will commence soon.
“I’ve met with contractors handling the Abejukolo Township road project and by the grace of God they will be on site in few days. Work on the General Hospital Icheke will commence before election”, Wada said.
Governor Wada said as finances improve, his administration will attend to some roads in the local government. The roads include Idris-Okpotala-Bagaji Odo road, Akpacha-Ogodu-Ibado road, Ankpa – Abejukolo road, Ofugo-Ika-Icheke road and Ogodu-Ollah-Ikebe road.
