…petitions state Assembly

Centre for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution, CHRCR, has described the recent appointment of a three-man Senior Special Assistants to run local government affairs as illegal and unconstitutional.

The group urged Kogi State House of Assembly, which was created by law, to reverse the illegality forthwith.

The Centre in a statement signed by its Executive Director, Comrade Idris Miliki Abdul, a copy of which was made available to National Mirror in Lokoja at the weekend, stressed that the move by the administration was dangerous and worrisome.

The group also lamented that even before pronouncement of the court last year the state government had frozen accounts of the 21 local government councils in the state on allegation of corruption and non-payment of salaries, describing the action as condemnable as local government workers still remained on percentage payment.

It therefore, called on the state’s Assembly to correct the anomalies immediately.

Reacting to the statement, the Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Jacob Edi, said the action of the state government was not illegal.

Edi explained that there can be no vacuum in governance at all level of governments, adding that since sacking of local government by High Court the state government was bound to put in place alternative means of running the local government pending when election takes place

Haba! This people are you not tired of deceiving other people? It is so clear that, you are afraid of Jagaban…you only courted him when you needed the South west and his resources to push out PDP and GEJ out of power. The north will never be tired of using and dumping people, its all about the Hausa- Fulani hegemony, and the South has still not realized it. Pls be objective for once, APC has lost its teeth…..
