An aspirant in the forthcoming governorship election in Kogi State under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Suleiman Baba Ali, has said bad leadership is the bane of development and economic growth of the state.
The aspirant stated this yesterday in Lokoja, while declaring his intention to contest the forthcoming governorship election scheduled for the last quarter of the year.
He said out of the 34 mineral resources that abound in the country, Kogi State has 22 in commercial quantities yet the state was not ranked among the best states in terms of development.
“Kogi State is blessed in terms of human and natural resources and the inability of successive administrations to harness the opportunity was responsible for the continued decline in both infrastructure and human development. The over-dependence on federal allocation has derailed government focus on internally generated revenue,” he said
Ali, however, assured the people of the state that if given the opportunity to be governor, he would address issues of education, agriculture, health and other sectors through public private partnership to develop the state to meet its counterparts.
