KSU Lecturer, Aminu Musa Audu, Wins Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson OBE Achievement Award

A lecturer at the department of Sociology, Kogi State University Anyigba, Aminu Musa Audu, has been awarded the Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson OBE ‘Achievement Award’ in recognition of his voluntary contributions to the development of the Liverpool city region and in support of the International Festival for Business 2014.

The ‘thank you’ event was held at the Crownne Plaza Hotel, Liverpool water-front in Liverpool, United Kingdom.

Idah-born Aminu hold Lectureship in sociology position at the Kogi State University Anyigba, but on TETFUND scholarship for full-time doctoral research entitled ‘Community policing: Exploring police/community relationship for crime control in Nigeria’ at the Department of Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology, University of Liverpool.

The recent award was not accidental as Aminu has been a shining star both at home and abroad. Aminu is well known for community services with several awards in his kitty. He has served as member to the School Board, School of Law and Social Justice, University of Liverpool UK (as a representative of the Department of Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology Postgraduate Students’ of the University (Nov., 2011- August, 2013). He was elected Elected President (Hall Governor), Hall Students Committee, Mulberry Court Hall of Residence, L7 7EZ University of Liverpool UK (September, 2012- August, 2013). The Committee meets weekly to organise projects for the over two hundred residents of various nationalities. To this end, students’ night, summer football, escort ions to the various places of interests in the UK have be achieved. Food festivals had been organised among the residents to appreciate the multicultural components of the environment in Liverpool.  He has also served as  member, Hall Students Committee Tender Board, University of Liverpool UK. Aminu participated in the UNICEF/National Population Commission Nigeria’s Vital Registration of Births/Deaths in Idah LGA, north- central Nigeria and have sensitised Idah community members for the program. He is a registered member, United Nations Volunteering Service (2012-date).

He served his University as  Secretary/Member to the Departmental Board, Department of Sociology Kogi State University Anyigba, Assistant Examination Officer, (Computation of Results), Department of Sociology, KSU, Anyigba, Secretary/Member, Departmental Accreditation Committee, Department of Sociology, KSU, Anyigba,  Member, Faculty of Social Sciences Academic Board, Kogi State University Anyigba Nigeria (2010-date).
