2015: Traders and Market Union Leaders Endorse Jonathan, Wada

The National Association of Traders and Market leaders of Nigeria have thrown their weight behind the aspiration of President Goodluck Jonathan and that of Capt. Idris Wada, Kogi State Governor for another term in office.

The National President of the Association, Chief Mrs Ruth Olowokere, made the position of the Association known when she led a delegation of her members to pay a visit to the Kogi State governor, in his office in lokoja.

The National President said the decision by the over 600 delegates of the Association gathered in Lokoja for a National conference, was arrived at after a careful assessment of developments and achievements recorded by president Jonathan, and affirmed their support for him as President come 2015.

Mrs Olowokere also added that the Association’s support for Capt. Wada, to seek another term was borne out of his monumental achievements witnessed in the last three years, urged him to seek another term in office, assuring that the Association and all its members mostly market women in the state will vote enmass for his re- election.

Mrs Olowokere described President Jonathan and Governor Wada as focused leaders, working for the good of the people, urged them not to be distracted by the handwork of those who do not mean well for the nation and Kogi State in particular.

The Association solicited a working partnership with the state government, and appealed for support that would enable them to be self reliant, as well as for its members to benefit some form of democracy dividends.

Also speaking, Chief Mrs Caroline Adegboye, the Kogi State President of Association of Traders and Market leaders of Nigeria, said the
Association would partner with the State Government towards improving Micro and Small Scale Enterprises in the State, commended the administration of Capt. Wada for its political will in the Socio-Economic development of the State.

Responding, Kogi State Governor, Capt. Wada represented by his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, commended the Association for the kind words showered on President Goodluck Jonathan, solicited the people’s support to enable the President deliver on his transformation agenda.

Capt. Wada disclosed that his administration has placed priority in empowering women especially market women through micro credit scheme, and commended the Association for holding its conference in the state with a promise to look into the request that would enable their members to be economically empowered.

Capt. Wada disclosed that the Association is birthing in the state at a time the State Government is seeking to partner with private investors, described Kogi State as a melting pot for investment, and charged the members of the association to take the advantage of the safe business environment, rich natural and human resources that abound the state to invest and do their businesses.
