Kogi Trains 8, 000 Youths on Skills Acquisition Programmes

No fewer than 8, 000 youths have been trained by the Kogi State Government in various skill acquisition programmes as part of efforts to tackle unemployment in the state.

Governor Idris Wada said this at the closing ceremony of the batch ‘8’ of Youths Advancement and Development for Kogi (YAD4KOGI) at its training camp in Ashaya, Kabba in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of the state.

The governor, at the occasion, restated the commitment of his administration to train youths for economic development and rebuild self esteem in them. The governor explained that in line with the determination to take out youths from the street and social vices, the state government would continue to impact positively on the youths to achieve the greater heights.

The governor was represented by Commissioner for Environment, Pastor Stephen Tayo Aremu. Governor Wada therefore urged the beneficiries to make good use of what they have learnt during the two weeks training exercise to develop of themselves and the state in general.

Also speaking, Special Adviser to the governor on Youth and Women Development, Dr. Mrs Temitope Shinkaye, expressed gratitude to the state governor for his passion for development and provision of employment opportunities through the various programmes he has initiated in the state.

She explained that a total of 1,097 young men and women have undergone this training to address the need of unemployed youths of the state,adding the this bring the numbers total number of YAD4KOGI volunteers trained under this scheme to 7,731 males and females.
