About 715 intending pilgrims from Kogi State are to perform this year’s Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
The state Governor Capt. Idris Wada made this known while addressing the intending pilgrims of the state on their departure in Lokoja.
Gov Wada said the essence of the trip was to primarily pray and fulfill all the tenants of Islam and in accordance with dictates of Allah.
The governor noted that Hajj operation was one of the pillars of Islam, saying that it was obligatory for those who have the means and qualify to perform in their lifetime. He urged them to pray for Nigeria, Kogi state and the entire Muslim faithfuls for sustainable peace and tranquility, unity and progress of the state.
Wada advised them to avoid any act capable of tarnishing the good image of Nigeria and Kogi state. Earlier in his address, the chairman Kogi state Hajj Commission, Ustaz Usman Yahaya said the state was the first to obtain Visa in Saudi Arabia having met all requirements for its issuance.
He noted that the first batch will depart for Saudi Arabia via Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja on Tuesday morning, while the second batch follows within the next 24hrs.
The Chairman of the commission explained that the pilgrims were expected to spend a maximum of 45 days in Saudi Arabia and assured them that the Commission will do everything possible within their power to ease their trip to and fro the holy Land.
