Lokoja LG Inaugurates Ad-hoc Committee on Data Capture Report

As part of its resolve to ascertain the actual strength of its staff and the wage bill involved in the running of their affairs which resulted in a recent verification and data capturing, the Lokoja Local has inaugurated an ad-hoc committee to review that exercise.

The Chairman of the Council, Hon Aliyu Baba Usman, who inaugurated the committee in his office at the Council Secretariat in Lokoja last week, tasked members to carry out their responsibilities with utmost sincerity.

He assured the staff of the council that the measure was taken to keep the records straight and inject sanity into the system.

The Chairman allayed the fears being entertained by some staff due to rumours of witch-hunt making rounds in the council and assured them that his administration is determined to turn around the fortunes of Lokoja LGA for the overall interest of the people.

Among the terms of reference of the committee are: to look critically into the report and recommend staff for retirement on the ground of length of service or age, to determine the actual workforce of the council, to recommend appropriate steps to be taken in order to monitor staff assigned to outstations among others.

The committee is chaired by the Secretary to the Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Yahaya, while the Director of Personnel Management in the council is to serve as secretary. Members include the Chairman of Medical and Health Union in the Council, the Supervisors for works, finance and special duties are all part of the committee.

In a brief acceptance speech, the chairman of the committee, Alhaji Ibrahim Yahaya, assured the Chairman of their resolve to do a thorough job, and assured him that with the caliber of those that have been chosen to serve as members, nothing should be expected other than the best.
