Former Kogi State governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain Prince Abubakar Audu has advised INEC chairman Professor Attahiru Jega to resign for according to him, failing to deliver in the recent Anambra State gubernatorial election.

Audu spoke yesterday in Lokoja while reacting to the largely faulted election, saying recent developments showed that Prof. Jega is not really in charge of the electoral body.

“Jega indicted himself by admitting that there was flaw in the conduct of the election. Once an officer of that high calibre has indicted himself, what we expect naturally is for him to resign because he is not in control. If he was in control he would not allow his staff to jeopardise the election,” he said. According to him, since 2003, there has never been a free, fair and credible election in the country, lamenting that Nigeria’s democracy is heading for destruction.

Audu posited that all the elections midwifed by politicians have been failures with a lot of fraud, which according to him has resulted in electoral disputes, adding that democracy should be forgotten in the country unless people are ready to change.
