2013/2014 Legal Year Devotion Church Service Held in Lokoja

The 2013/2014 Legal Year Devotion church Service has been held with a call on those responsible for the dispensation of justice to fear God in the course of discharging their responsibilities.

Yomi Awoniyi, Kogi state Deputy Governor, made the call at the 2013/2014 Legal Year Christian Devotion Service held at the Foundation Faith Church (Salem Chapel). The Devotion Service marks the commencement of the 2013/2014 Legal Year.

The Deputy Governor called on judges to strive to always remain the last hope of the common man by diligently exercising the tenets of their profession, for it to be pleasing to God and in conformity with public opinion.

Awoniyi called for God’s wisdom, understanding and temperance of heart for the judges to be able to deliver sound and right judgments.

While describing judges as very vital in the present democratic dispensation, Awoniyi said the vital place they occupy, behooves on them, the need to be upright in justice delivery.

In his remarks, Justice Ibrahim Auta, Chief Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, said the need to function with the fear, wisdom and understanding of God by judges, necessitated the devotional service, and assured that the judiciary will strive for excellence.

In his exaltation, Bishop Segun Aina, Presiding Bishop Foundation Faith Church, urged judges to deliver judgment with the wisdom of God. The clergy man who read from the book of Numbers chapter 21, charged judges to always seek knowledge through constant study so as to deliver justice with fairness and without fear as favor.

Highlight of the Devotional Service was thanks given by the judges.
