Youths in Kogi State under the auspices of National Youth Council of Nigeria yesterday protested the arrest and detention of a member of the state assembly Friday Sanni Makama who was arrested for allegedly being in possession of some fire arms by the police.
Penultimate week, Friday Sanni was allegedly caught somewhere in Abuja in company of some boys with some AK 47 riffles and police walkie-talkies in his car.
He was said to have been arrested following a tip off and was subsequently arraigned before an Abuja Chief Magistrate’s court which ordered the law maker to be remanded in prison pending when the case will come up for hearing today.
Addressing journalists in Lokoja, State NYCN Chairman, Farouk Mazai Suleiman said Friday Sani was framed up of the said charges by some Abuja-based politicians who felt threatened by his rising political profile.
He described the lawmaker as a politician who is misunderstood by his political opponents, saying his arrest and detention was unjust and politically motivated.
