Kogi PDP Primaries Update: Senator Ogbeha Faction Boycotts Primaries

A faction of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, (PDP) in Lokoja local government of Kogi State said to be loyal to Senator Tunde Ogbeha boycotted the primary election to nominate the chairmanship flag-bearer of the party for the May 4 local government polls in the state.
Spokesman of the group, Chief James Katungwo who addressed the press in Lokoja  yesterday alleged that two House of Assembly members had hi-jacked the electoral materials meant for the exercise.
He said the group is going to consider legal action to address the matter since talks towards resolving the matter had failed.
But the primary election held at the children amusement park, Lokoja where Aliyu Usman was declared winner of the  chairmanship primary by the returning officer, Saliu Usman after scoring 77 votes.
Aliyu Usman defeated Shaba Ibrahim who scored one vote in absentia.
The election which was held under heavy security watch recorded 18 delegates as absent while four votes were invalidated.
The chairmanship candidate called on his opponent to join hands with him to ensure total victory for the party in the local government polls slated for May 4 this year.
