The Kogi Central Youth Forum has petitioned the Inspector General of Police over the delay in prosecuting the killers of one Ms Grace Abata.

Abata who was a Masters Degree holder from Bayero University Kano, (BUK), was killed last month by yet to be identified gunmen at her Hajiya Juwa residence.

The petition, signed by the leader of the Kogi Central Youth Forum, Alhaji Usman Onimisi, alleged that nothing has come out of the arrests that were made over a month ago.

The Police had arrested Special Assistant on Security to the former chairman of Okene Local Government Area in Kogi State, Sadiq Ibrahim, and Farouk Mohammed, over the alleged assassination of Abata.

The suspects were reportedly arrested while launching another attack on an alleged political enemy in Okene.

Kogi State Command Police Public Relations Officer, Amadi Nwaneri, a deputy superintendent of Police (DSP), said that the suspects were giving useful information to the detectives.

He had assured that the suspects, after investigation, would be paraded and prosecuted.

However,  Onimisi is raising an alarm that the investigation was taking too long and that since the suspects had already confessed to the crime, they ought to have been brought to book by now.

Abata who hailed from Okene Local Government Area was in her late 30s when she was assassinated in her aunty’s house at GRA Agassa in Okene LGA.

Her wedding was supposed to come up this April.
