Youth Are The Vanguard of The New Kogi State – Awoniyi

Youths have been described as the , little wonder efforts aimed at empowering them is given a boost by the Capt. Idris Wada administration.

Arc. Yomi Awoniyi, Kogi State Deputy Governor, stated this at the official flag off ceremony of the second phase of the Youth Advancement and Development programme under the SURE – P programe.

The second phase of the programme which will cater for youths in the public works sector of the State, aside providing employment will reduce youth’s restiveness.

Awoniyi described the youth empowerment scheme ongoing in the State as very dear to the administration, said rather than share money as poverty alleviation, the present administration want the youths to earn a living through working, adding that a decent and clean environment is a factor to attracting investment and investors.

The Deputy Governor described Kogi as a state in dire need of development, lauded the appreciative role by citizens in the empowerment scheme of the present administration.

In her remarks, Temitope Shinkaiye, Special Adviser, Youths and Women Development, said the two weeks programe will train the 500 youths in sanitation and public works.

The Special Adviser, said as a departure from the past, the youths will be taught Skills and trained in areas that will enable them to be self reliant.
