The hydra headed problems of Kogi State was further aggravated on the 16th of October, 2012 with the rape of legislation that took place in the Kogi State House of Assembly (KSHA), when eleven (11) out of the twenty five (25) members of house threw caution to the wind and illegally reconvened from a recess that was supposed to end on the 18th of October, 2012 and in the most barbaric, anachronistic and clandestine manner purportedly remove the Speaker, Rt. Hon Abdullahi Bello.

It is unconstitutional, undemocratic, horrendous, contentious, atrocious, opprobrious, scandalous, preposterous and monumentally embarrassing to all the good people of Nigera.

Those who were elected for the purpose of making laws for the progress and good governance of the State are now the ones violating the laws. It shows that they have lost focus.

It is most unfortunate that this happened at a time when the State is suppose to be grappling with insecurity, severe flood and bad governance perpetuated by the immediate past administration.

Although, the infamous action of the eleven criminally minded lawmakers have been condemned by all well meaning and right thinking Nigerians in all its ramifications. Everything legally possible must however be done to obviate this reprehensible act. It must not see the light of day.

The constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended is very clear and unambiguous about impeachable offences and the process of impeachment in the State House of Assembly.

Therefore, it is either they are stack illiterates and oblivious of the law or they are foolishly acting out the scripts of their desperate paymasters who are known illiterates and unsound minded individuals.

What the State direly need presently is good leadership, the type that would ensure that taxpayers’ money is used to construct good roads, standard drainage systems, affordable housing, create jobs for the army of unemployed youths, empower women, curb insecurity and tackle the unprecedented flood that is currently ravaging parts of the State among others.
