Comrade Rotimi Obadofin, a human rights activist and governorship aspirant in Kogi State on the platform of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in 2007 said his party, the ACN, won the last governorship election in Kogi State but it was rigged.
“The evidence before the election petition tribunal has proven beyond doubt that we won the election.
“What happened was that at about 11:45pm on the day of the election, the collation of the results was going on at the collation centre in Lokoja by officials of INEC.
“Then, there was this instruction that INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state ordered that the exercise should stop. Officials of INEC later said they were tired and that they wanted to rest, hence they told the representatives of all the parties at the collation centre to come back the next day.
“Before that time, the people of Kogi State were jubilating because we had won 14 out of the 21 local government areas that were announced by INEC. Within that midnight, they rigged the election and all we had the following day was a new story with cooked figures. We are sure that if there is no interference in the tribunal going on, we will be victorious at the end of the day. We shall soon be vindicated at the tribunal.”
