The immediate past Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Chief Clarence Olafemi, has reportedly received threat text messages over his ambition as a running mate of one of the gubernatorial aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
The former Speaker, who is the running mate of Alhaji Isah Jibril Echocho, disclosed this while reacting to a national newspaper report that he has stepped down as the running mate.
He mentioned that he got the text message on Monday at about 2.26 p.m which read thus, “Mr Olafemi, since you have refused to back down on this PDP ticket, we are left with no option than to strike you and your children either. But be informed that we have traced your son to his residence in London. Withdraw from the gubernatorial race and relinquish the ticket to the party within one week else expect the worst”
Olafemi opined that no amount of intimidation, blackmail and mudslinging would deter him from pursuing his constitutional right to determine what he chose to be as long as they were under the ambit of the laws of the land.
