Senator Isah Jibrin (Echocho) has condemned the alleged extrajudicial killing of AbdulHakim by suspected members of a local vigilante group in Ankpa local government area of Kogi state over alleged cable theft.
The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon when the deceased encountered individuals believed to be members of the vigilante group, who allegedly took the law into their own hands and killed him.
In a statement on Friday, Senator Isah Jibrin described the act as barbaric, stressing that anyone suspected of committing a crime should be properly investigated and handed over to the appropriate authorities rather than subjected to mob violence.
He called on the police to thoroughly investigate the incident and ensure that anyone found to be involved in the killing is held accountable.
