Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic crash of a Nigerian Air Force aircraft in the Igbokoda area of Ondo State, extending his heartfelt condolences to the families of the fallen officers, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the leadership of the nation’s armed forces.

In an official statement released on October 5, 2026, by the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Ismaila Isah, Governor Ododo conveyed his condolences to the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, alongside the entire military hierarchy following the agonizing loss of life.

Governor Ododo described the crash as a painful national tragedy, emphasizing the huge burden borne by the military as officers routinely place their lives on the line to combat security challenges and defend the territorial integrity of the country across multiple operational fronts.

The Kogi State Governor praised the swift intervention of the Nigerian Air Force, the Ondo State Government, as well as federal and state emergency agencies whose search and rescue teams responded promptly at the scene of the incident.

Assuring the families of the deceased officers, President Tinubu, and the military community of the unwavering support of Kogi State, Governor Ododo offered the solidarity and prayers of the government and citizens of Kogi State during this period of national mourning. He prayed for the repose of the departed souls and asked Almighty God to grant their families, comrades, and loved ones the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
