As preparations gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Kogi East, Dr. Joseph Ameh Erico, has intensified consultations across the district with a high-level strategic meeting involving key party leaders from the zone.
The strategic session, held at his residence in Etutekpe, Okpo, brought together members of the APC State Working Committee from Kogi East, divisional chairmen, youth and women leaders, alongside party secretaries drawn from across the nine local government areas of the senatorial district.
Discussions at the gathering centered primarily on strengthening party unity, evaluating the current state of grassroots structures, identifying challenges confronting party members across various communities, and exploring avenues to enhance coordination ahead of the upcoming election cycle.

During the session, party executives from the respective local government areas briefed the assembly on local developments affecting members in their areas while offering suggestions on strategies to deepen the ruling party’s presence at the grassroots level.
Delivering his address, the APC Zonal Chairman for Kogi East, Hon. Abdul Ogwu Alhassan, stressed the imperative of teamwork and sustained commitment, noting that political success remains unachievable without collective effort from leaders and supporters alike.
“Every member has a role to play in building a stronger party. Our success will depend on how well we work together, support one another and remain committed to the ideals of the APC,” Alhassan stated, urging leaders across all cadres to maintain active engagement within their localities to keep the party visible.
Responding, Chief Erico called for greater cooperation among all stakeholders, emphasizing that unity, mutual respect, and continuous consultation would be vital as the party prepares for future electoral contests. He reiterated his commitment to operating through established party structures while maintaining open lines of communication across the district.
“We must continue to see ourselves as one family. The strength of our party lies in our unity and our ability to work together toward a common goal,” Erico affirmed.
The senatorial flagbearer assured attendees of his continued accessibility and underscored that addressing member concerns would remain a core priority. He charged party faithful to rally behind APC candidates in forthcoming elections, emphasizing that effective grassroots mobilization remains key to political victory.
The meeting concluded with a reaffirmed resolve by party leaders to enhance internal cohesion and step up grassroots engagement as early preparations for the 2027 polls commence in earnest.
