In a major infrastructure intervention aimed at enhancing public safety and stimulating the local economy, the lawmaker representing Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Abdulmaleek Abdulraheem Danga, popularly known as Porphy, has distributed 249 solar-powered street lights and high-capacity transformers across various communities in Kogi State.
The constituency development project is designed to tackle lingering power outages, illuminate dark spots prone to criminality, and extend business hours for small and medium-scale enterprises across the federal constituency.
Communities across the Okehi axis benefiting from the solar lighting installation include Ege Road Obeiba, St. Peters, Ohuepe, Primary Health Centre Ohueta, Osivaya Street, Jomilaye Street, St. Paul Road Ihima, and Osiuaya Street. Key public and security institutions in the axis, including the Obangede Police Station, Ihima Police Station, and the Independent National Electoral Commission office in Obangede, were also fully illuminated under the scheme.
In the Adavi axis, the solar installations span Ipaku/Osisi, Kuroko I and II, Zango, Eika Adagu, Anyoke, and the Adavi Divisional Police Headquarters. Similarly, agricultural and outlying hubs—including Zariagi, Irepeni Idodenge, Irepeni Oziokutu, Abobo, Osara Gada, Aku, Irapana, and the precinct of the Osara Police Station—have been connected to the solar lighting grid.
To address persistent low voltage and grid instability, the lawmaker also facilitated the delivery and installation of power transformers to serve residents in Inoziomi Layout, Obeiba, and the vicinity of the Federal College of Education, Okene.
Speaking on the initiative, community stakeholders commended the lawmaker, noting that true legislative representation extends beyond the chamber floor to direct, impactful interventions that improve the daily lives and security of constituents.
