The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has felicitated its pioneer National Chairman and elder statesman, His Royal Highness, Oba Samuel Oluyemi Falae, CFR, on the occasion of his 88th birthday.
In a press statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Araba Rufus Aiyenigba, on behalf of the National Chairman, Professor Sadiq Umar Abubakar Gombe, and the National Working Committee (NWC), the party described the monarch as a committed patriot and renowned technocrat whose public service record remains a source of enduring national inspiration.
The party expressed immense pride in identifying with the royal father, who is the Olu-Abo of Abo in Akure-North Local Government Area of Ondo State, highlighting his distinguished contributions to the nation, including his historic role as the presidential candidate of the defunct Alliance for Democracy (AD) in the 1999 general elections.
Recounting his decades of exemplary service, the SDP noted Oba Falae’s unmatched track record across both the public and private sectors, having served as a Permanent Secretary in the Cabinet Office, Managing Director of Merchant Bank, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
The statement further emphasized his leadership as a delegate and leader of Afenifere at the 2014 National Conference, as well as his meritorious service as the SDP’s National Leader until his voluntary retirement from active politics in February 2019 at the age of 80.
Joining well-wishers across the country, the party prayed for God’s continued grace, good health, peace, and all-round fulfillment for the respected traditional ruler, expressing confidence that his monumental lifetime achievements will continue to inspire generations toward national development and civic excellence.
