Every vineyard has a farmer, every harvest has an owner, and every steward eventually answers to the one who entrusted the field. The Church is no exception. Pastors preach, prophets speak, teachers instruct, evangelists travel, and intercessors labour. Yet beneath the titles lies one sobering truth: the vineyard belongs to Christ.
Jesus did not call His servants to build personal empires around His name. He called them to cultivate His vineyard, feed His sheep, proclaim His word and prepare souls for eternity. Position, applause, crowds and possessions may impress people, but they cannot impress the Owner. One day, every minister will stand before Christ without a microphone, pulpit, title or congregation.

Storms have a peculiar way of revealing what ordinary weather conceals. When the wind rises, weak branches break. When the rain becomes violent, poorly rooted trees fall. And when the forest is shaken, things carefully hidden beneath the leaves may suddenly become visible. In the language of ordinary people, when storms start, the woods will break and the fowl anus will be exposed.
The Church, too, will experience seasons when character is tested, motives are examined and hidden weaknesses become visible. A ministry can look magnificent from the outside while its foundations quietly decay. A preacher may command a crowd yet struggle privately with pride, greed, bitterness or compromise. But the final audit will not be conducted by human applause. The Vineyard Owner sees what the congregation cannot.

This is why ministers must resist the temptation to measure spiritual success by buildings, followers, offerings, invitations or public recognition. These things may have value, but none is the final measure of faithfulness. The question before every servant is simpler and more frightening: Did I faithfully tend the vineyard that belonged to Christ? Did my preaching lead people to Jesus, or merely to me?
There will come a day when the farmer meets the Owner. The gifted and the ordinary will stand together. The celebrated preacher will stand beside the unknown evangelist. The bishop, pastor, prophet, teacher and ordinary believer will all answer to the same Lord. On that day, excuses will have no harvest, reputation will have no defence, and borrowed glory will have no eternal weight.

Until that day, let every farmer of God’s vineyard return to the work. Preach Christ. Love people. Guard your character. Repent quickly. Forgive freely. Reject corruption. Refuse spiritual pride. Do not mistake the temporary applause of the field for the approval of the Owner. The vineyard is His, the harvest is His, and the final judgment belongs to Him. Until we meet Jesus, the Vineyard Owner, may He find us faithful.
