The lawmaker representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Salman Idris, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Eleta Oluyara of Iyara Land, Oba (Engr.) Jacob Babatunde Meduteni, who died at the age of 75.
In a condolence message, Hon. Idris described the late monarch as a respected traditional ruler and distinguished community leader whose contributions to the development of Iyara, Ijumu and the wider Okunland will long be remembered.
He recalled that before ascending the throne in 2023, Oba Meduteni had built a distinguished career in engineering and corporate management, notably serving as a former Chief Executive Officer of both the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KAEDCO) and the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO).
Hon. Idris said the monarch’s passing represents a painful loss to the people of Iyara and the entire Ijumu community, coming at a time when his leadership and wisdom were still greatly needed. He urged the people of Iyara to take solace in the impactful life the late Oba lived and the legacy he left behind.
The lawmaker commiserated with the family of the late monarch, the Iyara community and the Ijumu traditional council, praying that God Almighty grants Oba Jacob Babatunde Meduteni eternal rest and grants his family and the people of Iyara the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
