Alhaji Aminu Abubakar Suleiman, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Senatorial Candidate for Kogi East Senatorial District, has called on eligible voters across the district to take full advantage of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) extension of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise to Sunday, July 26, 2026.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Suleiman described the extension and the introduction of INEC’s online self-service voter registration platform as a major democratic opportunity that should be embraced by all eligible citizens.
According to him, elections are determined long before election day through the deliberate process of registering, educating, and mobilizing voters.

He stressed that any eligible voter who fails to register before the July 26 deadline risks losing the opportunity to participate in the 2027 general elections.
The ADC candidate announced that voter registration would form a central pillar of his campaign, urging party members, community leaders, volunteers, and supporters across the 97 wards of Kogi East to immediately begin mobilizing every eligible but unregistered citizen.
Suleiman particularly welcomed INEC’s online self-service registration portal, describing it as a “historic democratic equalizer” that would make registration more accessible, especially for residents of remote communities in Ibaji, Olamaboro, and Bassa.
The statement signed by Dr. Yusuf M. A. encouraged young people, students, artisans, market women, farmers, and first-time voters to register without delay, emphasizing that the Permanent Voter Card (PVC) remains the most powerful instrument for democratic participation.
He also charged community leaders and campaign volunteers to identify and assist unregistered eligible voters in completing the registration process before the deadline.
“The July 26 deadline is not a suggestion. Kogi East does not get this moment twice,” he said.
INEC recently announced a two-week extension of the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration exercise and disclosed that its online self-service registration portal would become operational from Wednesday, July 8, 2026, allowing first-time voters to begin and complete their registration process digitally.
