Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, has donated two branded operational vehicles to security agencies to strengthen anti-cultism operations and enhance campus safety.

Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Salisu Ogbo Usman, announced the donation on Monday during an Expanded Security Stakeholders’ Meeting held at the University Council Chamber.

Prof. Usman said one of the vehicles was assigned to the Joint Security and Anti-Cultism Squad, while the second will support the Security Patrol Team in conducting routine patrols within the university and its environs.

He said the intervention was part of the management’s deliberate efforts to stamp out cultism and other social vices, while sustaining a peaceful learning environment for staff, students, and the host community.

The Vice-Chancellor also announced that the University Management Committee, at its 403rd meeting, approved the reconstitution of the Students’ Disciplinary Committee and the Examination Misconduct Committee.

He added that a new Committee on Behavioural Change and Cult Renunciation had also been established to identify, counsel, and rehabilitate students involved in anti-social activities. He warned that those who refuse to renounce such activities would face the full weight of the law.

Prof. Usman debunked a viral video linking cult activities to PAAU, stating that the incident neither occurred within the university nor in Kogi State. He described the video as misleading and malicious.

He thanked Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his continued support and also acknowledged former Governor Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello for his mentorship.

The Ogohi Onu-Anyigba, HRH Alhaji Shaibu Okolo, and the Chairman of Dekina Local Government Area, Hon. John Urah Ikani, commended the university’s proactive security initiatives and pledged their continued support.
