In a monumental development for the growing tourism sector in Kogi State, the Director General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA), Mr. Olayiwola Awakan, paid a historic visit to the foot of the majestic Akogba Mountain during this year’s Akogba Mountain Hike (AMHC) 2026.

The high-profile visit was led and facilitated by the Director of News at TVC Communications, Chief Babajide Kolade-Otitoju, a prominent son of the soil and a relentless pillar in the developmental strides of the Ekinrin-Adde community.

The Director of Media, Akogba Mountain Hike Carnival 2026, Dr. Adebayo Ebenezer, said the presence of the NTDA Director General at the 2026 hike marks a significant turning point for the annual community-driven event.

“It signals a growing federal and institutional recognition of Akogba Mountain—a historical safe haven during the Ibon War and a natural water source for the community—as a premier, must-visit eco-tourism destination in Nigeria.

“By bringing the top echelons of Nigeria’s tourism authority to the base of Akogba Mountain, Chief Babajide Otitoju has once again demonstrated his unwavering commitment to projecting the rich heritage, natural endowments, and infrastructural potential of Ekinrin-Adde to the global stage,” he said.

Dr. Adebayo said the community remains optimistic that this strategic visit by Mr. Olayiwola Awakan will pave the way for strategic federal partnerships, improved tourism infrastructure, and wider international visibility for the Akogba Mountain Hike in the coming years.
