Olokun Condemn Odo Ere Bandits’ Attack, Reaffirms Commitment to Security

The Executive Chairman of Yagba West Local Government Area, Hon. Tosin Olokun, has commiserated with the people of Odo Ere community over Monday night’s attack by suspected bandits that claimed the life of a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) officer, Mr. Ayo Olukotun.

Olokun, who is also the Chairman of the Kogi State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), described the incident as unfortunate and heartbreaking.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Adeyemi Babarinde Sunday, the chairman said the death of Olukotun was a painful loss to the family, the community and Yagba West Local Government Area as a whole.

“We are deeply saddened by this unfortunate incident. On behalf of the government and people of Yagba West, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr. Ayo Olukotun, the people of Odo Ere and all those affected by this attack,” Olokun was quoted as saying.

He prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased and for God to grant his family the fortitude to bear the loss.

The council chairman assured residents that government was not relenting in its efforts to tackle insecurity and restore lasting peace across communities in the area.

According to him, the administration remains committed to working closely with security agencies and other stakeholders to address banditry and other criminal activities threatening the safety of residents.

Olokun also called on members of the public to remain vigilant and support security agencies with timely and credible information that could aid ongoing efforts to rid the area of criminal elements.

He further prayed for the safe return of all victims currently in captivity and reiterated government’s determination to safeguard lives and property in Yagba West.
