- We are tired of issuing statements after abductions, Bunu people deserve safety of their lives and properties.
The 2027 House of Representatives Candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) for Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, Dr. Idris Rufus Oluwafemi (IDRUFEM), has expressed deep concern over the reported abduction of about 30 residents and the tragic loss of one life following an attack on Ayegunle Bunu in the early hours of today.
In a statement on Monday, Dr. Oluwafemi strongly condemned this unfortunate incident, describing it as a painful reminder of the security challenges confronting communities within the constituency and beyond. He noted that no community should have to live under the constant threat of violence, fear, and uncertainty.
While extending his heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, IDRUFEM also sympathized with those who sustained injuries during the attack and pray for their speedy recovery. He equally shared in the pain and anxiety of the families of those who were abducted and assures them of his thoughts and prayers during this difficult period.

Dr. Oluwafemi respectfully called on the Federal Government, Kogi State Government, security agencies, and all relevant authorities to intensify ongoing efforts and deploy every necessary resource to ensure the safe and immediate rescue of the abducted persons from Ayegunle Bunu and neighboring Iluke communities.
He further urged community leaders, local vigilante groups, and residents to continue collaborating with security agencies by providing credible information that may assist ongoing rescue operations and strengthen the security architecture of the area.
“At this critical time, our collective priority must be the protection of lives and property, the safe return of those in captivity, and the restoration of peace and confidence within our communities,” he stated.
Dr. Oluwafemi reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for improved security measures across Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency and called on all stakeholders to unite in the fight against criminality.
“May God comfort the bereaved family, grant quick healing to the injured, and ensure the safe return of all those currently in captivity.”
