Wemi Jones Commends St Augustine College Old Boys Foundation for Their Commitment to Development of Alma Mater

Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, has commended the Saint Augustine College Kabba Old Boys Association and Foundation for their commitment to the development of the school through various interventions like renovation of classrooms and employment of qualified teachers to teach in the School.

The Commissioner gave the commendation when the Old Boys Association led by the Chairman of the Foundation Infrastructural Committee Dr. Ayo Olowoniyi, paid him a courtesy visit on Monday in Lokoja .

He said that all their efforts in ensuring that the Students in the school have the best education is an investment not just to the lives of the Students but the development of the State.

The State Government, he said, has begun the renovations of 728 public schools across the state in collaboration with Adolescent Girls Initiative For Learning Empowerment (AGILE) programme, adding that any school not covered by AGILE project would be taken care of by the funds set aside by the state government.

Speaking, the Chairman of the infrastructural Committee of the Foundation Dr. Ayo Olowoniyi appealed to the State Government to absorb the Foundation employed teachers currently teaching at the school who were recruited by the Foundation to address the critical shortage of qualified teachers in key subject that was threatening the academic performance and sustainability of the school.

The Foundation, according to him, was formed by the Old Students Association to support the revival and transformation of the School.

Responding to the demand of the Foundation for the state government to absorb teachers employed by the Foundation, the Commissioner assured that whenever the second phase of the teachers recruitment commence, they would be considered for employment.
