The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has affirmed Dr Toyosi Akure as the consensus candidate for Yagba West II Constituency ahead of the 2027 Kogi State House of Assembly election.
The affirmation followed the stakeholders’ engagement held at the party’s state secretariat in Lokoja on Saturday.
Party leaders, stakeholders and supporters from across Yagba West II constituency unanimously adopted Akure as the party’s flag bearer, describing him as a credible and experienced grassroots politician.
Speaking during the meeting, Yagba West ADC Chairman, Hon. Sheyi Dada said the decision was reached after wide consultations with party stakeholders and members across the constituency.
According to him, the party resolved to present a united front ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“We carefully considered the aspirations of various interested persons and agreed that Dr Toyosi Akure remains the most acceptable candidate to fly the party’s flag for Yagba West II Constituency.
“We believe his leadership qualities, experience and connection with the grassroots will strengthen the party’s chances in the election,” he said.
Responding, Toyosi Akure appreciated the party leadership and stakeholders for the confidence reposed in him.
Akure pledged to justify the trust by remaining committed to the development of Yagba West II constituency and the advancement of the ADC in the state.
“I am deeply honoured by this unanimous endorsement by our party leaders and stakeholders”, he said, addition “This affirmation is not just about me, but about our collective desire to provide quality representation and responsive leadership to our people.”
He called on party members and supporters to remain united and committed toward achieving victory for the party in the forthcoming elections.
