The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has elected, for another four year term, Araba Rufus Aiyenigba, as the National Publicity Secretary of the Party, at its 2026 National Convention, holding in Bauchi city, Bauchi State, on Saturday, May 9, 2026.
He hails from Ekinrin-Adde in Ijumu local government area of Kogi state.
Araba Rufus Aiyenigba was elected along with Prof. Sadiq Umar Abubakar Gombe, as National Chairman; Senator Ugochukwu Uba, as Deputy National Chairman; Dr. Olu Agunloye as National Secretary and other members of the National Working Committee (NWC), which is the highest organ of the party.
The reelection of Araba Rufus Aiyenigba, is obviously on account of his remarkable performance on the beat as spokesperson of the party in the past four years, as well as his deep knowledge of the workings of the party and its founding ideology and philosophy.
He has impressively communicated the policy and manifesto of the party to the public and defended the party very robustly during his first term of office.
His re-election, ahead of the 2027 general election, has been celebrated by members of the party at national and sub-national levels as a positive development to boost the political fortunes of the party.
The success of the 2026 National Convention signals the beginning of a new chapter in the annals of the history of the party, which is considered by a large majority of Nigerians as the credible alternative political party for national redemption.
