Leaders from Yagba Federal Constituency have rejected the consensus arrangement that produced Pastor Babagbemi Joseph Adejola as the candidate.

Some leaders from Yagba, who spoke with journalists on condition of anonymity, described the process as a “kangaroo arrangement” and declared it invalid.

The meeting, held at the Kogi State Government House in Lokoja on Wednesday, reportedly saw leaders from Yagba Federal Constituency and its local government areas reject the outcome of the consensus exercise.

An anonymous source disclosed that one of the leading APC House of Representatives aspirants, retired General Benjamin Ipinyomi, told Gov. Usman Ododo during the meeting that some stakeholders from Yagba West Local Government denied being part of the consensus arrangement.

The source further revealed that many leaders frowned at what they described as a “dirty and non-transparent” process used in selecting the consensus candidate.

“We are not part of this arrangement. It is dubious and does not reflect the majority’s voice. We want a fair selection process and a candidate who can truly represent the people and withstand opposition pressure.

“The APC is not just any party that should produce a weak candidate for opponents to easily defeat. Let aspirants go to the field to test their popularity and determine who is most acceptable.

“We will not allow any form of imposition under the guise of politics. The APC needs a strong representative from Mopamuro,” the source said.
