Engineer Sunday Samuel Kolawole has formally declared his intention to contest for the state House of Assembly seat representing Yagba West (LGA) under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The accomplished chemical engineer, technocrat, and seasoned administrator made his declaration while reaffirming his huge loyalty to the leadership and developmental vision of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Executive Governor of Kogi State.

Engineer Sunday Kolawole described Governor Ododo’s administration as one committed to grassroots development, inclusive governance, and economic growth across the state. He pledged his full support for the governor’s policies and programs aimed at consolidating progress in the state.
Speaking on his aspiration, Engr Sunday Kolawole noted that his decision to seek elective office is driven by his passion for service, his extensive professional experience, and his desire to bring effective representation and sustainable development to the people of Yagba West State Constituency.
“With my background in Engineering, industry, administration, and public-private partnerships, I believe I have the capacity to provide pragmatic leadership and effective representation for our people at the kogi state house of Assembly,” he stated.
Engineer Sunday Samuel Kolawole has been politically active since his undergraduate era .
A graduate of Chemical Engineering from
the Federal University of Technology, Minna. He furthered his education with a postgraduate diploma in Petroleum Geoscience from the Laser Petroleum and Geoscience Center in Port Harcourt. During his academic tenure, he was a prominent figure in student unionism, both at the Polytechnic and university levels. Notably, his political involvement at The Federal Polytechnic Bida extended well beyond his graduation, and he remarkably achieved an upper credit despite his active political engagements.
Professional Experience
Engineer Kolawole began his career as an IT student at Boja Industries in Mopa, where he gained recognition among the youth and students for dedicating time to teach students from Amuro Community Secondary School and Baptist High School Mopa. He then served as a youth corps member at Oceanic Bank (now Eco Bank), where he established enduring professional relationships.
Subsequently, he joined Polris Digitech as a field worker and quickly advanced to become one of their top supervisors. In June 2012, he transitioned to International Paints West Africa (IPWA) as a Research and Development Laboratory Technologist. His career trajectory then led him to the oil and gas sector, where he joined Chevron Nigeria Limited, gaining invaluable insights into societal functionality driven by determination.
Currently, Engineer Kolawole holds the position of Depot/Regional Manager at Armstrong Paints. Throughout his career, he has consistently leveraged his roles to provide employment opportunities for youths from Okun Land and facilitate various contracts for his people of Yagba land.
Engineer Sunday Kolawole is widely respected for his multidisciplinary expertise, strategic leadership, and commitment to public service.
Political observers in Kogi West note that his declaration is expected to further strengthen the APC’s grassroots mobilization in Yagba West State Constituency ahead of the next general elections.
Engineer Kolawole is happily married to a wonderful woman from Yagba and is blessed with three sons.
