The Okun Development Association (ODA) has congratulated Professor Gbenga Solomon Ibileye on his appointment as the 4th substantive Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Lokoja.
In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Dayo Thomas, the Association said the milestone achievement is a testament to Prof. Ibileye’s academic excellence, leadership prowess, and dedication to the advancement of education.
ODA noted that in his inaugural speech, Prof. Ibileye declared his vision to transform Federal University Lokoja into a world-class institution, distinguished by academic excellence, cutting-edge research, innovation, and societal impact.
“He emphasized his administration’s focus on nurturing globally competitive students and staff in an enabling environment defined by transparency, inclusiveness, and collaboration.
“This vision is anchored in a clear mission to enhance academic quality and strengthen research capacity; expand infrastructural development and digital transformation as well as deepen community engagement and sustainable development initiatives,” he stated.
Prof. Ibileye, a seasoned academic with over three decades of service in the Nigerian University system, expressed his readiness to deliver on his mandate. As a pioneer staff member of Federal University Lokoja, he has witnessed the institution’s struggles, progress, aspirations, and resilience, and is well-positioned to build on the solid foundation laid by his predecessors.
“I have witnessed FUL’s struggles, its progress, its aspirations, and its resilience. This familiarity has afforded me the opportunity to operate well and achieve the desired results,” he noted.
The ODA commended the outgoing VC, Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi, for his outstanding service and legacy, which has earned him the title of “Father of Modern FUL.”
The Association expressed confidence that Prof. Ibileye’s leadership will take Federal University Lokoja to greater heights.
