Prof Avidime Assumes Duty as Kogi Poly Rector

The new Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Professor Salihu Sanusi Avidime has officially assumed duty as the 8th substantive Rector on Wednesday, 11th February, 2026.

Prof. Avidime expressed appreciation to the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Governing Council Chairman, Barrister Sani Momoh Shaibu and the outgoing Rector, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman for the successes witnessed in the institution, and promised to sustain them.

He warned against rumour mongering, gossip and other tendencies that would be counterproductive in moving the institution forward, and promised to build on the existing legacies.

Earlier, the outgoing Rector, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, appreciated Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for the love he showed him, and the trust he reposed in him over his reappointment as Rector, and for graciously appointing him as the 6th Vice Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba.

Prof. Ogbo stressed that with the unwavering support of the state Government, Governing Council, staff and students of the Polytechnic, he was able to build confidence, restore order and reposition the Polytechnic for sustainable development.

The Chairman of the Polytechnic Governing Council, Barrister Sani Momoh Shaibu urged the outgoing and incoming Rectors to ensure they leave their places of assignment better than they had met it.

He wished both of them the best of luck in their new assignments, and promised sustained extension of maximum cooperation and support to the incoming Rector.

Present at the handing over and taking over ceremony were Professor Ibrahim Shaibu, and Professor Ohiani Bello from Nasarawa State University, Keffi; Principal officers, Members of Management and Academic Board, Staff and students of the Polytechnic, friends and well wishers amongst others.
