A senior staff, lecturer in the Department of Political Science at Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Dr. Agih Abdul Micah, has described the appointment of Professor Salisu Usman Ogbo as Vice-Chancellor as a decisive move that reinforces Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s reform agenda in Kogi State’s higher education sector.

Dr. Agih said the governor’s choice of Professor Ogbo, a scholar of Political Economy, demonstrates strategic leadership and a clear commitment to institutional renewal at a critical phase in the university’s development.

Professor Ogbo formally assumed office on Wednesday, February 11, 2025, as the sixth Vice-Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University, formerly Kogi State University, Anyigba.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Dr. Agih maintained that the appointment signals consolidation of the administration’s resolve to reposition state-owned tertiary institutions for efficiency, discipline, and academic competitiveness.

“This is not just an appointment; it is a deliberate consolidation of reform. Professor Ogbo has the competence, administrative depth, and intellectual capacity to drive the transformation agenda envisioned by the Ododo administration,” he said.

Recalling his time as President of the Students’ Union Government (SUG), Dr. Agih noted that Professor Ogbo served as his lecturer and Examination Officer, describing him as a disciplined administrator whose policies strengthened student–management relations and institutional standards.

He called on academic and non-academic staff, unions, and stakeholders to align with what he termed “a new phase of purposeful leadership,” urging maximum cooperation to ensure stability and measurable progress.

Dr. Agih further assured that the Ogbo-led administration would justify the confidence reposed in it, adding that the governor’s decision reflects political will and strategic foresight aimed at deepening reform across the state’s education system.
