The Secretary to the Government of Kogi State (SGS), Mrs. Folashade Ayoade, has expressed appreciation to the management of the Nigerian Correctional Service for giving a nod to her request to build the church within the facility.
Speaking at the foundation laying ceremony for the church at Koton Karfe Correctional Centre on Friday, Dr. Folashade Ayoade praised the officer-in-charge of the correctional centre for treating the inmates well compared to her last visit.
She promised to ensure the release of one of the inmates that needed about three hundred thousand naira to meet his bail condition.
According to her, the visit as well as the foundation laying ceremony has renewed the hope of the inmates in God and assured of her continued support.
The Pastor in charge of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Region twenty-four, Pastor Rotimi Nathaniel performed the foundation laying of the church to kickstart the project.
Pastor Rotimi Nathaniel urged the inmates to have absolute trust in God and be of good conduct.
He noted that the gesture of the SGS was divine and prayed God to continue to protect and reward her.
In a sermon, the Chaplain of Kogi State Government House, Pastor Henry Asarapo urged the inmates to have hope in God no matter the condition, stressing the need to accept the sovereignty of God.
Responding, the officer in charge of the Centre, Mr. Emmanuel Dangana, described the event as remarkable and appreciated Mrs. Ayoade for her love for the downtrodden.


The SGS later donated food items including bag of beans, cartons of noodles and soap to the inmates.
The Director General of Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation, Princess Nana-Hauwa Yussuf and the Executive Chairman of Kogi Sate Scholarship Board, Mr. Afolabi Joseph Raji were among dignitaries who accompanied the SGS to the ceremony.
