Palpable Fear Everywhere

Palpable fears envelopes the people of Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State as they organized cross-over church services at 12noon, 12 hours ahead normal schedule.

The question on everybody’s lips is how did we get here? Who is a Nigerian? What makes anybody a superior Nigerian? How did the government become so helpless over the current situation in Yagbaland?

The current situation calls for more proactive actions from both the government and the citizens. The hospitalities of the people have so far been taken for granted.

Kogi State used to be a safe haven in the time past untill when the former Governor Yahaya Bello compromised our safety for his failed Presidential ambition and the consequences are we facing today.

Yahaya Bello used the life of our people to bargain supports from the northern elements who chooses to make Nigeria ungovernable today.

The ghosts of the people whose lives have been wasted will continue to hurt you all.

The communities are as good as being deserted in the afternoon, as early as 7:00pm there will not be any normal human beings in the streets.

For the fear of Gumi’s brother who has chosen to take the law into their hand unrepelled , the most unproductive elements in the society.

The Government must act fast and better before both side decide to carry the weapon of destruction.
The government should be able to arrest everyone negotiating on their behalf and labeling them as terrorists which they are today.

Equally, children of people like Gumi who are in the Army should be relieved of their posts as they are potential saboteurs in the Military.

– Prince Friday Ogungbemi, a journalist, wrote from Odo-Ere, Yagba West.
