QS Aminu A. Suleiman has urged the people of Kogi East to embrace unity, accountable leadership, and people-centred development as the new year begins, describing 2026 as a defining moment for collective renewal and responsible leadership.

In his New Year message, Suleiman thanked Almighty Allah for life, peace, and resilience, noting that a new year is “not just a change of date, but a renewed opportunity to correct what is broken, heal what divides us, and build what truly serves our people.”

He stressed that 2026 must mark a clear departure from politics of slogans toward “unity with purpose, development with conscience, and leadership with accountability,” emphasizing that governance must deliver tangible results to ordinary citizens.

“Our farmers deserve dignity, our youths deserve skills and jobs, our women deserve opportunity, and our communities deserve healthcare, schools, roads, and security that work,” he said.

Reaffirming his people-first philosophy, Suleiman pledged to listen more, work harder, and stand firm for justice and inclusive progress. He identified agriculture, enterprise development, education, and social protection as priority areas critical to lifting communities and ensuring that no part of Kogi East is left behind.

Addressing key social groups directly, he reiterated respect and consultation with elders, opportunity and a future worth staying for youths, inclusion and dignity for women, and a renewed assurance to families that their voices matter in shaping public decisions.

Looking ahead to decisions that will shape the region’s political and developmental future, Suleiman reminded citizens that leadership is a sacred trust (amanah), calling for prayers, honest counsel, and active civic participation.

Observers say the message signals a growing emphasis on issue-based leadership in Kogi East, with strong undertones of accountability, grassroots engagement, and results-driven governance. Although Suleiman did not announce any specific political plans, his focus on trust, consultation, and service is expected to resonate as the region approaches a critical political season.

He concluded by urging residents to choose “hope over fear, service over slogans, and results over excuses,” expressing confidence that with sincerity, hard work, and God’s guidance, Kogi East can emerge as a model of inclusive progress in Nigeria.

Suleiman ended the message by wishing the people a happy new year and praying for Allah’s blessings on Kogi East and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
