DUMSAA Elects New Leadership at 2025 AGM; Dr. Kennedy Obohwemu to Lead as President

The Delta State University Medical School Alumni Association (DUMSAA) has officially announced its new Executive Council following the conclusion of its week-long Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2025.

The election, which culminated on December 21, marks a significant transition for the association as it enters a new two-year administrative cycle.

​Announcing the results during the Grand Finale of the event, the Electoral Committee Chairman, Dr. Philip Enegide, declared that the candidates fulfilled all electoral requirements as stipulated in the DUMSAA Constitution.

​The following members have been returned as elected to serve on the Executive Council for a period of two years:

  1. ​President: Dr. Kennedy Oberhiri Obohwemu
  2. ​Vice President: Dr. Atuyota Uchefe
  3. ​Secretary General: Dr. Efe Clement Abel
  4. ​Welfare Director: Dr. Freedom Nwakaego Igheghe
  5. ​Public Relations Officer (PRO): Dr. Ifeanyi-Nze Victor
  6. ​Provost: Dr. Jeroh Oghenevwogaga

​The theme of this year’s AGM, “The Heartbeat of Leadership: Medicine, Mentorship & Mobilization,” served as the backdrop for the elections. In his acceptance remarks, the newly elected President, Dr. Kennedy Obohwemu, emphasized a vision of unity and professional growth.

​”We are committed to the three pillars of our theme,” Dr. Obohwemu stated. “Our goal is to ensure that DUMSAA remains a vital support system for all alumni, fostering mentorship that bridges the gap between generations of medical professionals.”

Dr. Obohwemu also paid tribute to the Interim Board for their dedicated service over the previous term. He noted that the achievements of the past administration have provided a strong platform for the new leadership to build upon, ensuring the continued progress of the association.

​The week-long event featured sessions focused on the future of medical practice and the vital role of alumni mobilization in supporting their alma mater. A major highlight was the Grand Finale, featuring a keynote address by the distinguished Prof. Ejiroghene Umuerri.

The DUMSAA Secretariat expressed satisfaction with the member turnout and the digital infrastructure that allowed for a transparent, global election process.
​As the new executives begin their two-year tenure, the association looks forward to an era of increased engagement and impactful leadership within the medical community.
