Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide, member of the House of Representatives representing Yagba East/West/Mopamuro Federal Constituency, has condemned the recent bandit attacks on communities around Isanlu, Yagba East local government area of Kogi State, vowing that Yagba will not become a haven for terrorists.
In a statement, issued by the lawmaker’s Special Adviser on Public Communications, Bashiru Abdul Mohammed, Hon. Abejide expressed his condolences to the affected communities, particularly Odogbe, Idofin, and Ilafin Isanlu, where lives were loss in the latest attack. “Our land shall not die,” he declared, assuring the people of Yagba that he will not rest until their communities and forests are safe and free from evil perpetrators.
Hon. Abejide emphasized the need for stronger collaboration to tackling insecurity, stressing that the security of lives and properties is a constitutional priority. He commiserated with the families of the victims and pledged to working with Local Government Chairmen in Yagba to bolstering security measures, supporting legislation and other efforts to make Yagba safe.
The lawmaker denounced the abduction of a sick, elderly woman in Ilafin-Isanlu, vowing that the kidnappers and their informants would be brought to justice. He urged security agencies to intensify efforts to apprehend the perpetrators, ensuring that Yagba’s ancestral lands, communities, and forests are safe.
“Yagba land must rise above all security challenges and overcome them,” Hon. Abejide declared, calling for collective action to protect the land and its people.
