The Executive Chairman of Yagba West Local Government Area and Chairman, ALGON Kogi State Chapter, Hon. Tosin Olokun, has issued a stern directive as military operations continue to flush out criminal elements hiding within Yagba West forests.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Adeyemi Babarinde Sunday, on Thursday, the Council Chairman said effective immediately, all petroleum stations in Yagba West are prohibited from selling fuel in jerricans or to individuals attempting to transport products into the forests.
In the same vein, Hon. Olokun also said provision traders and related businesses are strictly forbidden from selling food items or supplies in bulk to persons conveying them into the forests.
The Chairman declared that anyone caught violating this directive will have such commodities seized on the spot, while the sellers will face strict penalties as determined by relevant authorities.
“We cannot be fighting criminals in the bush and at the same time supplying them with the basic necessities that sustain their operations. This sabotage will not be tolerated,” he warned.
Hon. Olokun charged security operatives to ensure full compliance with this order, stressing that the clampdown on the supply chain is as critical as the ongoing military offensive.
He called on residents to remain vigilant and to immediately report any suspicious activity or movements to the appropriate authorities.
The Chairman reaffirmed that Yagba West Local Government under his watch will not relent until total peace is restored and criminal incursions are permanently dismantled.
