In the life of every University lies a great responsibility of social reengineering, knowledge acquisition and excellence existential discovery for growth and development among other things.
This profound milestone, usually a crucial monument of any university across the world. While, for any university to function efficiently, the Senate arm of the university has to come alive. In this wise, as Federal University of Education, Pankshin joins the world in processing and producing young graduates for knowledge based economic development in the emerging stage of global economy has deem it expedient to continuing to setup its standard in the Composition and Inauguration of the university Senate body
Federal University of Education, Pankshin has on 4th September 2025 inaugurated its Senate – the formal declaration of newly elevated Professors/ Associates Professors and the constitution of the University Senate. By inaugurating the Senate today, the University has officially attained full academic maturity, ready to stand shoulder high with other established universities within the country and around the world.
This historic moment marks a huge milestone in shaping the academic policies, programmes, and standards that will define the character, quality, and direction of the university. And of course, this development is not without the magic wand of an exceptional leadership in Hon. Funsho Ekundayo Olumoko, who in less than a year ago was made the Pro – Chancellor and Chairman of the university Council following the upgrade of the institution.
Recalled, the Finesse Pro -Chancellor inherited the institution in a college status, but with his inherent spirit of excellent transformation, the institution immediately received a rapid developmental attention and has taken a prosperous leap.
Numerous amongst his scored high points since he top the helm of the institution and since the institution upgrade has been tremendously radical.
Among scorecards are:
a. Led the Upgrade of the institution from College of Education status to University status.
b. Led NUC to the inspection of course and infrastructures for take off.
c. Led the university to employ manpower requirements for it’s take off
d. Led the university to the appointment of Acting Vice Chancellor
e. Processed the elevation of Professors and Associates Professors
f. Now led the Composition and Inauguration of Senate body of the university. The event which took place in the university auditorium, witnessed top government functionaries, Member of National Assembly, the university Council members, Principal officers, management staff, union leaders and members, etc.
In his remarks, the Pro – Chancellor expressed delight in the conferment of professorship and associate professorship on distinguished individuals as merited. According to him, the height of this academic recognition worth it not for the sake of it but for the sacrifice of years of scholarly input, impactful research and rigorous dedication to teaching.
He pointed out that this triumph is for the collective victory of the University. Noting further that the revered social responsibility of this magnitude will continue to resonate in good leadership, mentorship and for the advancement of knowledge.
He admonished the new elevated Professors to live up to standard and chart a new frontiers of research that will address national and global problems that have confronted the nation. Urging them to rise up in their research production to fight the pressures of globalization and lead the young generation to emerging confrontations of national issues.
In his words, As Senate, you must ensure that the decisions taken here position our University as a centre of excellence producing graduates of character, competence, and creativity, capable of transforming society and bringing sustainable development in emerging knowledge based economic, Olumoko said.
“This solemn occasion is therefore a call to service. It is a call to uphold merit, discipline, and excellence. It is a call to build a university system that commands respect locally and internationally. It is a call to safeguard our academic values even as we embrace innovation and reform” he ended.
