Gov Ododo Opens Capacity-Building Workshop for World Bank Project Implementation Units in Kogi

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has called for effective project management for the development of the state.

He made the call while inaugurating a capacity-building workshop for World Bank project implementation units in Lokoja on Monday.

In statement issued by the Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Mr Unubi Emmanuel, the Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu, highlighted the state-led initiative aimed at enhancing the performance of Project Implementation Units (PIUs) across various line ministries.

The workshop’s objective is to strengthen the capacity of Project Implementation Units to manage and monitor World Bank-assisted projects using modern digital tools for transparency and accountability.

“This initiative, which began last month with an in-depth assessment of our Project Implementation Units (PIUs), is being facilitated by Trendtech and will run for the next four months. This is a state-led initiative, fully supported by our administration to ensure the successful delivery of key projects that will drive the development of our dear state.

“The workshop is part of a four-month capacity-building program facilitated by Trendtech, focusing on introducing tools like performance monitoring dashboards for real-time project tracking,” he said.

Governor Ododo urged participants to apply gained skills to overcome challenges and deliver timely results. Stressing the need for projects to contribute to Kogi State’s prosperity and development through digital tools and teamwork.

He commended the State Accountant General, Hajia Habiba Tijani Onumoko, who doubles as the state Portfolio Focal Person, and Trendtech for their initiative and robust partnership.
