Kogi East senator, Atai Aidoko Ali, in spite of the lingering legal crises and the needless distraction, never abandoned his primary responsibilities of law making and oversight functions that will trigger political integration of his people, bridge inequalities and create an enabling environment for self realisation of his constituency.

The primacy of law making is presentation of bills that will in turn inject some level of improvement into an existing policy or introduce fresh ideas that will rejig the entire system.
Despite spending less than two years in the ‎office, with some lawmakers sitting at the red chamber without a single bill, Kogi East senator has sponsored six bills and all the bills have passed its first reading.
List of the bills sponsored in the senate are as follows;
1. Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission, NIPC (Amendment) Bill, 2017

4. Nigerian Postal Services, NPS (Amendment) Bill, 2017

The importance of these aforementioned bills cannot be over emphasised as the ‎overriding results is to restructure the operation of all the government parastatals and agencies, contribute to the economy of the country positively and primarily to meet the yearning and aspirations of ordinary Nigerians as well as develop a new template that is geared towards attracting major revenue source to Nigeria/its economy inline with the best practices.
No developed countries like the UK, US, UAE, the Asian tigers and other world economies survives or thrives without constant adjustment and re-adjustment of the existing laws guiding the regulatory agencies, so as to attract more investment, discourage unemployment, that will allow the influx of small, medium and other ratio businesses see the need to invest in Nigeria.
The motives behind the amendment sought by the Kogi East senator was to address obscure, obsolete ‎and reform outdated laws and policies that have retard our economy and country to a snail speed scenario.
In the area of motions, since his assumption at the senate and his inauguration in January 2017, Senator Aidoko has contributed to virtually all issues raised on the floor of the senate particularly issues of urgent national importance that bordered on the economy, security, budget and the activities of agencies and parastatals either, ‎at plenary, committee level and other oversight functions.
‎Senator Atai Aidoko Ali, under order 42 of senate rules, came up twice to raise serious issues of national importance that affected the security of lives and properties during the series of attacks by fulani herdsmen in Kogi State, kicked against the establishment of cattle colonies/ranches and appointment of fulanis into Igala traditional councils.
The senator, as the chairman senate committee on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), cried out on the need to sustain the budgetary provisions through optimum performance and that of other agencies. This led to the extension of 2017 budget running period from march ending to June, to enable every elements captured in the budget ran it’s full course. This feat wouldn’t have been realisable without his timely intervention and foresight.
As part of law making, three years into the ‎8th senate, more bills, motions and urgent issues of national importance will be tackled as the need arises.
All said and done, the primacy of law making, contributions and observations will ran it’s full course in the remaining part of the year before 2019 elections.
