A National Examination body would be used to conduct aptitude test for the over 6,000 persons who have applied to be Secondary Teachers in Kogi State.
Similarly, the National Teachers Registration Council and the National Teachers Institute would be invited to also confirm the authenticity of the certificates presented and teachers membership of those wishing to be teachers in the State.
The Special Adviser and Technical Adviser on education, Chief Sylvester Onoja, stated this while briefing the Kogi State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi, on the modalities to be used in selecting 500 teachers from the over 6,000 that recently applied to be teachers in the State Secondary Schools.
The Special Adviser disclosed that the examination to be conducted would be transparently done by a National Examination body, to select credible teachers who would be saddled with teaching in schools for the next thirty five years.
The Special Adviser said majority of the crops of teachers in the State Secondary Schools are not digitally compliant with the children they teach thus the need to employ teachers who are computer literate.
In his words “our students are digitally minded while our teachers are analogue. A situation where our students are browsing the internet, yet our teachers cannot use their phones to send text messages and their remote control in their homes effectively calls for serious concern”

Chief Sylvester described the experience being brandish by many of the Secondary School Teachers in the State as outdated, said the present recruitment that will be done will lay emphasis on improving quality of teaching in the State using modern day understanding of the computer.
Chief Sylvester Onoja, said the efforts being carried out by the Teaching Service Commission to recruit qualified teachers through a transparent method is hinged on the Transformation Agenda of Capt. Idris Wada in the education sector.
The Technical Adviser commended the support the present administration places on quality education, said the Commission would strive to sustain the educationally advantaged status of the State and to compete favorably with States in other parts of the country.
In his remarks,the State Deputy Governor,commended the idea employed by the Technical Adviser,called for thoroughness in the selection process so that the state will be better for it.
